Watercolour Botanicals

Just a few watercolor pieces. I do these for fun. Coincidently, they're all for sale. 5''x7'' Watercolour and Ink. I lay the watercolour down first and then draw on top of them. They're very spontaneous pieces with very little planning and zero graphite. :)

The Letter F

I'm thinking about illustrating two more letters for a proposed Botanical Abecedary. I'm really happy with how this turned out. I actually did this in September and it inspired a lot of my current style. I really like the strong lines and the bleeding watercolours.

Botanical Illustration

So, I've been working on this piece for about a month now. I've even pollinated my own phal. They have a 50% success rate so Shawn's taken over for me since he has the green thumb. I'm keeping my fingers crossed to see if we'll be successful.

As for this piece, I feel like I'm almost completely finished with it. I lost a lot of line variation when I shrank it down so I will be redrawing it and replacing the main image soon.

Edit:

Here is my revised finished piece:

Botanical Illustration

Hey guys! Here's some recent work from my botanical illustration class. This is my study of the pepino melon. It's available in the late autumn and has a mild, sweet flavour.

A Trip to Italy

This past summer I was lucky enough to get to study abroad in Italy with Stephen Alcorn and the illustrious Albert Epshteyn. It was hard work to say the least but I'm proud of what I accomplished.
